Apollo is the god of the sun, prophecy, medicine, and music. He is one of the Olympians, and is the brother of Artemis.
Early Life
Apollo is the son of Zeus and the Titaness Leto. He is also the Twin brother of Artemis. When Leto was pregnant Hera was furious and made it so Leto could not have her children in peace. She was chased by the Serpent Python until she stopped on a newly created island Delos. Leto first bore Artemis who then helped her birth her brother.
When Apollo grew up he hunted Python and killed him for his mother's sufffering. He was also made the god of Prophecy, the oracle of Delphi belongs to him.
Personality
Apollo has been obsessed with Haikus ever since he visited Japan and appears to obsess over other kinds of poems mattering on where he goes. He is horrible at them, but he still tries. (In The Titan's Curse, Zoe Nightshade briefly mentions that after Apollo visited Ireland, he obsesses over limericks.) The sun god drives around in his Chariot, as hot as the sun. He can make the Chariot look however he wants, but he likes to keep it in sports car mode. Apollo stated that his chariot is made from mortal beliefs of the sun. As long as they believe that the sun rises and falls, that its hot, and comes for half the day, it shall. Apollo is a master in archery and so are his demigod children at Camp Half-Blood. One of these demigods of his is Lee Fletcher who dies fighting in The Battle of the Labyrinth. Lee Fletcher is also the head of the Apollo Cabin. It is said that during capture the flag that the Apollo cabin has one of the biggest cabins. Apollo flirts with Artemis' hunters, even though he keeps being told not to. He normally appears as a handsome teenage boy, but he also appeared as a middle-aged man called Fred during one of the books. He is the god that controls the Oracle at Delphi, and oversees the ceremony in which Rachel receives the Oracle's spirit.
Film
In the upcoming film, The Lightning Thief, Apollo will be played by Dimitri Lekkos.
